Congratulations! I have just reach PR 1 also. For me, I didn't concentrate much on PageRank because it looks like not so important for me. I always concentrate on organic source from search engine and loyal readers. But I am feeling happy to get PageRank increase too :)

I have to disagree with most of your post. Especially for let's say, generic blogs that tackle not-so-geeky topics. You can have a PR7 or whatsoever, but who -of your visitors- care about it when they don't know the meaning of that?

PR is important because it shows your authority and quality towards google and might not always reflect the accurate worth of your website, content is still king and PR is just a number that shows your efforts in link building and whatsoever.

Commenting on other blogs doesn't helps you out with links, 95% of all blogs that you leave comments at are using the nofollow tag, explain to me how links from there will help you in terms of Page Rank?

And oh, I hope that you could also visit back the people who are visiting you here -which you haven't in my case-
